Technology
Synoptec is a web application requiring little to no time for deployment to workstations so you don't need an army of technicians to get it installed. Developed in Microsoft Silverlight, it is accessed through a web browser using the Microsoft Silverlight 4 plugin. This means that Synoptec is accessible from Mac or Windows workstations using Internet Explorer 8 or Firefox 3. Most likely, workstations that you already have in place will be more than adequate for Synoptec.
The Synoptec server uses Microsoft Windows 2008 - IIS, and is built with support for network load balancing so that your infrastructure can respond to the ever changing load requirements and of course is fault tolerant. Synoptec requires Microsoft SQL server 2008 for database functions and is fully compatible with clustered SQL server technology.
Integration
Synoptec makes use of inductry standard HL7 messaging toreceive data from upstream systems such as patient admissions (ADT) and OR scheduling (SIU) systems. Because each upstream system typically has its own variation on the HL7 standards, Synoptec allows you to configure the inbound data feeds to support the inbound message specifications. The database model is complete with extensive documentation to allow you to quickly integrate systems without a requirement for additional development time.
Synoptec uses HL7 messaging to provide synoptic reports to downstream systems such as health records and EHR/EMR systems such as Eclipsys, Epic, McKesson and other PHR systems. These feeds are preconfigured with Synoptec and simply need to be adjusted for your particular environment.
