    Synoptec Care Pathway Studio

The Care Pathway studio gives a non technical program administrator the tools to create clinical workflow that support the targeted standards of the program.  The goal of each pathway is to:

    • guide the multi-disciplinary care team through the pathway of treatment,
    • provide alerts and tasks at the right time for team members,
    • provide a synoptic outcome report for each branch of the care path.

    Events and tasks

The pathway event is a container used to logically group related tasks. Events typically represent major milestones or locations of care.  For example, all pre-admission tasks might be grouped into an event and that event is then a self-contained entity that may be closed off when complete.

Tasks are assigned to a specific role on the team and are given a timeframe so that if they are not completed, they may be identified and actioned.

Tasks may include simple tasks, correspondence or synoptic reports.  Simple tasks may be thought of simple yes/no answers.  Correspondence and synoptic report tasks are more complex and allow the role to fill out and sign-off a task so that the information contained may be provided to the appropriate resources.

    Branching

Some care pathways may branch to other pathways because they are different disciplines or because the care path would otherwise be too long in duration.  Branching a care pathway essentially allows the clinician to decide to cancel the current path and stop treatment, cancel and open a new (different pathway) or continue the current pathway and open a new parallel pathway.
